Ljt Horses

The basic requirements for a paralympic horse are:

A paralympic horse must have a temperament that is beyond reproach.
The horse must stand absolutely still when being mounted and dismounted in spite of any provocation.
The horse must be a good looking dressage model.
The horse must must have a fabulous walk which is completely regular in collection as well as extension.
The trot is also important but the canter is less so for the more severely disabled grades, as canter is excluded from the test.

However the freestyle for the Grade IV riders includes Prix St Georges movements so for for the less disabled grades the canter is also paramount.

Stallions and mares are not considered suitable and ideally horses should be no younger than seven years old, and trained to any level from Elementary to Prix St Georges.
